In order to get comparable vocabulary data from all different sources (including six major dialects), all words were transformed into one common form.
The phonetic values of the ancient pronunciation of the Qosqo dialect were used for the common column "Hanan Runasimi", those of the Ayakuchu dialect for the column "Sikllalla Runasimi". Ayakuchu has the most simple sound system. This meant for that column, aspirated and glottalized sounds of the Qosqo and Qhochapampa dialects were replaced by simple sounds, "ts" of the Northern dialects by "ch", and, in general, "sh" by "s". Aditionally, all "o" were replaced by "u" and all "e" by "i", as well as "au" by "aw", "ui" by "uy", and "ai" by "ay" in both columns.
